STANDARD CASHIER FEE COMPUTER TERMINAL
Since parking is mainly a cash business, it is
very easy to lose as much as 25% of total revenue to errors,
friendly discounts, cashier theft, customer theft and leakages
at every point. The Fee Computers are designed to minimize these
leakages and track every penny that is due from the garage
operations. The key missions of the fee computer are:
Compute exact fee:
Simplify Cashier role:
Involve the parking patron:
Track everything:
Prepare Audit data:
Provide reports:
AMTEL offers two different Fee Computers for Cashier operations
The lower cost standard Fee Computer Terminal and
The full-featured Touch Screen Fee Computer.
KEY COMPONENTS: The standard Fee Computer Terminal is designed
to be compact and easy to
operate. It consists of:
A 4 line, alphanumeric display that presents instructions and details on the transaction at every step
A 48 key touch keypad that is designed to simplify the key functions of a typical cashier operation. The keys are organized as follows (Key functions can be changed in the firmware, if desired):
12 keys for numeric data entry
3 keys for Fee Selection
3 keys for bills tendered
2 Soft keys that work with the display message
20 merchant validation keys
Rest are special function keys
All keys are "Touch" sensitive so they are easy to operate and resistant to coffee spills and normal vandalism. While their function is assigned as explained above, these functions can be changed for special applications, as needed.
A cash drawer that matches with the terminal in size and shape.
A printer that sits on top of the terminal and provides a receipt and optional audit trail
A bar code scanner that is used by the cashier to scan the ticket as well as bar code decals that maybe issued for merchant validation.
An optional Fee Display that is mounted outside (normally on top of the gate) that presents key data on each transaction to the parking patron.
The interface box where all field terminations are connected.
An interlock loop detector that ensures that the cashier cannot run dummy transactions.
The card reader that maybe used by the monthly parking patrons.
A control panel that is interconnecting all these devices and monitoring all the traffic passing through this lane.
TYPICAL OPERATION: The operation is designed to be extremely
simple. As soon as the vehicle approaches the cashier booth (in
exit cashiering mode), and if the patron has not used the card
reader, then the fee computer becomes active and is ready to
read a ticket. The parking patron presents the ticket to the
cashier, who scans the ticket and the display shows the exact
fee due. If there is merchant validation, either the cashier
scans the bar coded decals (one option) or checks the stamps and
presses the appropriate key(s) in the merchant validation
section. The Fee Computer terminal automatically applies the
appropriate discounts and presents the NET FEE. The customer
presents a bill, which is entered with one of the Bill Tendered
keys, and the fee computer presents the exact change due. The
cashier provides the change to the customer and closes the cash
drawer, which opens the gate and the transaction is completed.
All this data (Time, Gross Fee, Validations, Net Fee, Bill
tendered and Change Due) is presented to the parking patron so
he can make sure that it matches his expectations. This reduces
the chances that the cashier is over-charging the customer by
using a wrong ticket data or giving less change to the customer.
The Fee Computer can be programmed with up to 4 fee schedules;
can program receipts on an automated basis or on demand; and,
provides all the reports necessary for a complete audit of all
activities. Especially helpful are the "Exceptions Reports" that
highlight any events that were handled in an unusual manner.
APPLICATIONS: The fee computer terminal is available in multiple
formats to fit the following applications:
