AMTEL ANNOUNCES NEW WIRELESS MODEM /CONTROLLER

Wireless Telemetry Systems provider, AMTEL announces the introduction of WMC-CL2 Wireless Modem/controller. This new product provides a cost-savings solution for data communications with remote sites where conventional telephone lines are not available or not economically feasible. It has been designed primarily to interrogate, monitor and communicate with remotely located critical equipment.

The AMTEL Wireless Modem, WMC-CL2, has a built-in processor that can be programmed to interface with practically any specialized device, and it has the buffer memory to meet the requirements for most applications. In addition, it can be expanded to provide input monitoring and output control as well. This wireless service is available at costs as low as $3 per month in areas served by ReFLEX™ wireless data networks.

The ReFLEX™ protocol is the world's first two-way alphanumeric messaging protocol and a member of Motorola's family of FLEX™ protocols. It enhances the utility of a traditional wireless messaging systems by adding a response channel allowing the carriers to provide message delivery confirmation and full two-way messaging services, while increasing system utilization through frequency reuse. ReFLEX messaging devices use the response channel to provide confirmation of messages received as well as generalized location information. ReFLEX systems currently provide coverage of approximately 90% of the populated areas of the US, Canada, and Mexico. There are also ReFLEX systems in Honduras and Colombia.
