Amtel provides multi-station Lobby Visitor Screening System

Amtel successfully installed a Lobby Visitor Screening System that integrates visitor processing at 5 different locations from a central database. The system also integrates a total of 16 cameras located at various points throughout the complex to provide audio-visual record of each visitor entry and exit as well as provide surveillance of all activities in the visitor lobbies. The system uses web-based reports that are available to any authorized staff member.

RFID Review:

Active v/s Passive Tags

Passive Tags absorb and temporarily store a very small amount of energy from the reader’s source to generate its own quick response, while active tags have their own internal power source (battery).

Read-range of passive tags is normally measured in inches but cannot exceed a few feet, while active tags can be read from up to 100feet. Also, since the signal levels are small, the impact of RF noise in the surrounding areas is likely to be higher on reliable read capability of passive tags. Passive tags also cannot read tags moving at fast speeds, requiring the vehicles with the tags to practically stop before the tag is read.

Active tags can be more effectively used in Asset Monitoring applications, where multiple tags have to be monitored at the same time. Active Tags are more conducive to applications where specific sensors, like tamper alert, temperature, tilt condition etc. have to be monitored. And active tags can be designed with larger memory capacities allowing data-logging applications.

While active tags are more expensive than passive tags, generally they provide a more reliable and consistent readability in varying outdoor conditions.

AMTEL Wins a Large Airport Parking Project in the Gulf

AMTEL has been awarded a large parking project for an Airport in the U.A.E. through a reputed dealer based in Dubai.

The project involves automation of paid parking lots to allow access to both monthly as well as transient users. Currently, the parking lots are operated manually with cashiers and no real control on cash receipts, thereby making huge loss in the income generated.

Some of the unique features that AMTEL is offering are CCTV integration and LPR (License Plate Recognition from AR, Hungary) integration with the cashier software. The system also integrates “Car Park Savers” from a Italian company called Beninca.

At the entry, when the car approaches the Ticket Dispenser, the LPR camera captures the picture of the license plate. The AMTEL software processes the license plate number. The ticket dispenser also houses a built-in camera to take the picture of the driver when he presses the button for ticket. The License plate number is printed on the ticket at the entry along with the other details like Time/Date, bar code Id. etc.  A guard monitors the software remotely and if for some reason the software does not read the License plate correctly, it will prompt the guard to enter it manually before it prints on the ticket.

At the exit, the LPR camera again takes the picture of the license plate and stores in the history files. When the cashier scans the ticket, the cashier software returns the screen of the License plate # at entry and exit and Pictures of the driver at entry, to allow the cashier to verify all the details with the actual driver & the vehicle before proceeding to complete the cash transactions.

All cash transactions for each ticket along with the pictures taken at different points are stored in history files for Manager & Audit reports.

The software provides reports for cash transaction during each shift, cashier shift details, history reports with pictures, and  other user defined reports that will allow the authorities to keep a check on the income.
